A Metafilter thread examining the ping-spam protection code in Weblogs.Com, from the authoring side.
It's a fascinating issue -- a popular weblog update aggregator must have a policy about ping-spams. Some people want to be at the top of the list all the time, just like spam email, people have figured out this is a good way to get hits.
What's cool about the Metafilter thread is that they're talking about competing, instead of the usual powerless complaining.
There should be plenty of public servers for routing flow to weblogs. There are all kinds of scaling issues to come, machine and human. I hope the discussion stays positive and intelligent. Thanks.
